Frequently Asked Questions

What should I avoid immediately after Botox?

In the first 4 hours after Botox: do not lie down or bend forward, avoid touching or rubbing the injected areas, skip exercise and physical exertion, and avoid alcohol. In the first 24 hours: no facials, no heat exposure (saunas, hot yoga, hot showers), and no blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen) unless medically required. These restrictions prevent Botox from migrating to unintended muscle groups.

When will I see results after Botox?

Botox takes 3 to 5 days to begin working as the botulinum toxin binds to muscle receptors. Full results are visible at 10 to 14 days. Your provider at Forever Young Spa schedules a 2-week follow-up to assess results and address any asymmetry with a complimentary touch-up if needed.

What should I do to make Botox last longer?

Botox results are primarily determined by your metabolism and the amount injected. To maximize duration: avoid high-intensity exercise (which speeds metabolism of Botox), stay hydrated, use quality skincare with SPF daily, and maintain a consistent treatment schedule every 3 to 4 months. Some studies suggest zinc supplementation may extend results — ask your provider about this.

Is it normal to have bruising or swelling after Botox?

Minor bruising at injection sites is common and resolves in 3 to 7 days. Small bumps or firmness at injection sites typically resolve in 30 minutes to a few hours. Temporary headache after forehead injections is possible. Contact your provider if you experience drooping of the eyelid or brow, difficulty swallowing, vision changes, or spreading weakness — these are rare but warrant immediate follow-up.

Can I wash my face after Botox?

Yes, you can gently cleanse your face on the day of treatment. Avoid aggressive rubbing, exfoliants, or acids in the treated areas for 24 hours. Makeup can be applied gently after 4 to 6 hours — use light pressure and avoid vigorous rubbing.

When can I exercise after Botox?

Wait 24 hours before resuming exercise. High-intensity exercise increases blood flow and metabolism in the treated area, which may shorten duration. Low-intensity walking is generally safe within a few hours of treatment. If you are a competitive athlete with high training volume, discuss scheduling your Botox treatment after a rest day.
